Austin Music Church

Light up the dark

Austin Music Church

A new expression of church serving musicians, fans, bartenders, barbacks, college students, and the people who make the Austin music scene come alive.

The harvest is here. Brilliant, creative, talented people are searching for meaning, community, sobriety, purpose, and a reason to believe the Church still has something real to offer. Austin Music Church exists to meet them where they already are — not by building a religious bubble, but by faithfully serving the scene.

What Is It?

Austin Music Church is a ministry that jumps into holes, over and over again.

Join the work

A man falls into a deep hole. A doctor walks by and writes a prescription. A priest walks by and tosses down a prayer. Then a friend shows up and immediately jumps in.

“Are you crazy? Now we’re both down here.”

“Yeah, but I’ve been here before. I know the way out.”

That story is not a metaphor.

For more than a decade, the Austin music scene was my hole. I know what it is to be lost, chasing the right things in all the wrong places.

Thirteen years ago, the people of Christ jumped in and showed me the way out. That did not just save me and leave me alone. It gave me a holy enthusiasm — a Spirit-filled calling to do for others what was first done for me.

The Problem

Why aren’t these people being reached now?

They are out at night.

The people most in need of community, grace, and recovery are often not looking for help on Sunday morning.

They distrust the Church.

Many see the Church as antiquated, exclusive, corrupt, or irrelevant to the modern world.

They need laborers.

Not another program waiting for them to come inside — people willing to go where they already are.

What It Looks Like

This is not a vague idea. It is a working ministry system for serving the Austin music scene.

Secret Service

A worship experience in venues and music spaces, built around live music, scripture, communion, confession, and a short message for people who would never start by walking into a sanctuary.

Sober Open Mic Nights

A safe, public, creative space for musicians and seekers to show up, play, listen, and find community without needing alcohol to belong.

Discipleship Pathway

A clear pathway that moves people from first contact to friendship, from friendship to service, and from service into real discipleship.

Target Alignment Teams

Small, focused teams built around meaningful service — helping people live their purpose through serving the scene.

The Fruit

This is already happening. Covenant partners help make it repeatable, sustainable, and scalable.

J

“Jim” was in a hole.

One day I got a text from Jim, an influential music legend, asking for help. We jumped in. Today, Jim is sober, lifting others up through this ministry, singing songs of redemption, and leading a Target Alignment Team.

P

“Paul” found purpose.

Paul was struggling with alcohol and lack of purpose until he came to our open mic night to play publicly for the first time. Now he is over a year sober and tells the story of how he came to faith through this ministry across Texas.

Covenant Partners

A covenant partner is not just a donor. A covenant partner becomes part of the labor force Jesus told us to pray for.

Start now

Pray

Commit to praying for the Austin music scene, the people we are serving, the leaders being developed, and the next people who need someone to jump into the hole with them.

Give

Commit to recurring monthly support so this work can move from scattered effort to sustained ministry. The goal is not to fund a budget. The goal is to send laborers.

Open Doors

Help connect Austin Music Church with churches, musicians, venues, pastors, donors, recovery leaders, and people who know the Church needs new forms for a new mission field.

God is already doing something

The question is: will you?

Your gift is not a donation to a budget. It is you answering the call to be a laborer. When you give, you are jumping into the hole with us. You are sending a text back to the next Jim that says: “We’re on the way.”
